I am a wife, a Mum to three amazing young children and a sports lawyer.
Like many women, I spent my 30s mostly exhausted - struggling to balance work while mothering a young family. After baby number three, I decided to join my local gym so I could shed the extra pounds I was carrying and turn 40 looking and feeling like my old, confident and happy self again.
For 12 months I was consistently going to the gym and trying my best to get into good physical shape. But when I stood in front of the mirror, I couldn't see the strong, fit version of myself that I was working so hard for.
I felt confused and disappointed. What was I missing?
I knew in that moment that if I wanted to see change, I had to try something new. And whilst I was training well, I knew deep down that I wasn't being consistent with good food choices.
So I got myself an accountability coach. We agreed on a plan and I followed it. On a daily basis I checked in with my coach and he provided ongoing feedback, advice, support and motivation.
In just three months, I lost 8kg of body fat. I dropped two dress sizes and I felt stronger and fitter than ever. And finally, I liked what I saw in the mirror. It felt amazing!
On my own, I spent over a year trying to get into shape. But it took a coach just three months to get me there. And the best bit? I'm still there. Because the habits I developed during that period fit easily into my life and have stuck.
It is my own experience with a coach that taught me, first-hand, the true power of accountability. Not just as a motivator, but as a catalyst for real, lasting progress. And it's now clear to me that the missing piece of the puzzle is having someone in your corner, who is as invested in your goals as you are.
Now, having trained as a CPD-accredited accountability coach myself, I am so excited to help other women who, like me, are looking for the missing piece in their fitness goals puzzle. And what a privilege that is, because there is nothing more rewarding than seeing others succeed and knowing I helped them get there.
